One of the most potent verses in the Noble Qur’an is Hasbunallahu wa ni mal wakeel. These words are mentioned by Allah SWT many times in the Quran. Hasbunallahu wa ni mal wakeel meaning

This dua is centred on recognizing God’s strength, might, and wisdom. And putting all of our confidence in Him through difficult times. It is actually taken from the Quran and is referenced in Surah Ali Imran verse number 173 of the Quran.

The meaning of hasbunallah wa ni’mal wakil is very simple but very strong. It means that Allah is enough for us and that He is the ultimate defender, helper, and guardian. Below is the meaning of this beautiful dua;

Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَ نِعْمَ الْوَ كِيلُ

In the context of Hadees

Hadith 1

The Prophet of Allah is reported as having responded to a man. Who said,

“How can i feel at peace while the Angel of the Trumpet  (Israfil one of the four arc angles), has set his lips to the Trumpet and is waiting for the order to blow it?”

He (PBUH) felt that this had stunned his Companiosns. Therefore the Prophet (PBUH) advised them to find solace in reciting Hasbunallahu wa ni mal wakeel.

Hadith 2

A Bedouin guy was departing without tethering his camel. Why don’t you tie down your camel? The Prophet (PBUH) questioned him. I put my confidence in Allah, the Bedouin said. The Prophet then retorted, “Tie your camel first, and thereafter put your confidence in Allah”. 

Importance of Hasbunallah wa ni’mal wakil ni’mal maula

When Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) was being thrown into the fire, he prayed this dua. As mentioned below;

“When prophet Ibrahim (A.S) was thrown into the fire, he said: Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and, He is the best Disposer of affairs”.

Furthermore, when a large army of pagan enemies assembled against our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he also performed this dua.

Likewise, according to Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa (RA), the Prophet (PBUH) performs this dua or dhikr anytime. When he feels disturbed or afflicted.It makes no difference who opposes you. Simply put your confidence in Allah, and assistance will undoubtedly materialize. One of Allah’s magnificent titles is Al-Wakeel, which translates as “The Disposer of Affairs”. And make a habit of reciting Hasbunallahu wa ni mal wakeel daily.

  • Recite Durood-e-Ibrahim three times following the Isha prayer.
  • Recite Hasbunallahu wa ni mal wakeel 450 times after that.
  • Once more, say Durood Ibrahim three times.

  • Then say Durood 11 times more.
